With a background in art history and ten years of experience in an contemporary art museum, Deanna Farneti has been studying, writing and dealing in Fashion jewellery and Bijoux de couture since the beginning of the '80. With 12 books translated internationally - among which Jewels of fantasy of 1991 - and over 30 years of experience in this field , she is a recognized authority as an expert and jewellery historian.

International expert of European and American fashion jewellery, lives and works in Milano.
1975 Graduated from Bologna University, Faculty of Letters, Disciplines of Arts, Music and Theatre.
1975-1980 Curator and acting Vice Director at the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Bologna. Was in charge of the press office, editing all the catalogues (22) of temporary exhibitions as well as editing a complete catalogue of the Modern Art Gallery paintings.
1979 Worked with Lea Vergine on the exhibition The Other Half of Avant-garde - 1910-1940 Painters and sculptors in the historic avant-guard movements, promoted by the City of Milan. Upon the request of the Municipality of Milan, Farneti Cera went to the United States, England and France in order to meet with a number of the artists whose work was included in the exhibition. For the catalogue, Farneti Cera wrote the biographies of ten artists. The exhibition travelled to the State Museum of Copenhagen (with a co-edition of the catalogue in English) and to the Modern Art Museum of Naples.
1987 Curator and organizer of Le gioie di Hollywood - American Designers of Fashion Jewellery 1920 – 1960, exhibition in Venice at the Venice Design Gallery and responsible for writing the accompanying catalogue in Italian and English.
1989 Opened a vintage costume and fashion jewellery showroom in Milan in Corso di Porta Vigentina, 32.
1991 Curator of the international exhibition Jewels of Fantasy. Its catalogue, I gioielli della Fantasia, was originally published in Italian by Idea Books (Milan) in 1991, and has since been co-edited into English Jewels of Fantasy, French L’Art du Bijoux and German Glanzstücke (for further details please go to the Events section).
1995 Wrote the book Bijoux, co-edited into English Costume Jewellery (UK Edition) and Amazing Gems (US Edition) (for further details please click on the relevant book cover underneath). Held a series of conferences on the History of Costume Jewellery for New York University - School of Continuing Education and for the American Society of Jewellery Historians.
